My political view is the same as the framers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution: "Keep Government
out of my life!!"
These men left England to have freedom, in all its' forms, but especially for the right to worship who and however they
pleased. They had first-hand experience with life under a despotic monarch and a government designed to perpetuate
itself by suppressing individual rights while pandering to the "elite". All of these things came into sharp focus when the
founding fathers made the decision to
break from England completely and form a government that would protect individual freedoms at all costs.
My opinion is that our present government has far exceeded the bounds established by the Constitution and is currently
acting as an enemy of freedom. Compulsion, threat and control seem to be the primary tools used by Government to
suppress citizens and exert its will. This reminds me of several dictatorships that have come and gone in the past 70 years.
I agree with Henry David Thoreau, who said, among other notable quotes: "'That government is best which governs not at all;' and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have."
According to Wikipedia, the word "government" is derived from the Latin gubernare and means "to govern" or "to manage". While I agree that a little govern-ment is a good idea, the all-encompassing and oppressive GOVERNMENT that has forced its way into our lives recently is a very BAD idea at best. Those who would have GOVERNMENT do everything for them are the same people, generally, who live on welfare and food stamps...the "entitled". Calling this class of person "entitled" is a very accurate appellation. In European countries, the landed gentry (those who have land and/or estates) are the entitled class. They're entitled to special privileges due to their station in life.
