Oluf & Laura Nielsen's Family
Grandma & Grandpa Nielsen came to Brigham City, Utah from the little green island of
Bornholm, Denmark, a jewel lying in the Baltic Sea between Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
Descendants of hardy Danish fishermen and farmers, they learned the value of hard work and
honesty, instilling both deeply into their children. During the hard years of the Depression,
Grandpa could always find work because he could do the work of two. They worked at whatever
they could find, farming and working and raising strong children. Stronger than their muscles was
the love they felt for each other. Their family grew up to very close-knit and remained close even after
they all married and moved away. Every weekend someone was at their home, visiting and
enjoying their company. We love and honor them for their great example. This website is
dedicated to them and the family they raised.
