Here are a couple of pictures of my custom hand-made Pruchka Legend ES banjo.
Hand-made and finished by craftsmen in the Czech Republic, Pruchka instruments are considered
among the finest in the world. Many major banjo makers use components made
by them, including Gibson, Stelling, and Deering companies, among others.
As you may be able to see from these pictures, the detail work and finish is exceptional. The wood is amazing, with wonderful grain patterns typical of exhibition-grade curly maple. It makes a very beautful banjo. Even better than the look, though, is the SOUND! It has great bass response, coupled with punchy mid- to high-tones. It really exemplifies the pre-war Gibson Mastertone sound PLUS!
Due to the excellent setup provided by Greg Boyd at Greg Boyd Instruments in Missoula, MT, the action is perfect! No more cut and bleeding "fang-gers" after playing a while. In a jam setting, it provides plenty of punch without requiring me to really bear down on it, as with other banjos I've played.
If you're a picker and looking for a new banjo, visit Greg's website, he'll be happy to spend time talking about what he has available. Tell him Streep sent you!
