Intelligence reports, stories, history, reunion Salt Lake City 2004 Reunion The reunion, held April 30 - May 2, 2004 at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah was a great success! We had 31 vets there, with a total attendance of over 50, with spouses. Many brought scrapbooks, pictures, clothing, etc. Sharon "Sam" Stanley even showed up Saturday night IN HER FATIGUES from 1969...which still fit! Everyone was pretty impressed! There were many emotional moments during the weekend and many friendships renewed. By the end, everyone felt very close. It was a wonderful event. 71st Evac Hospital - 2nd Reunion- San Antonio is ON!!! March 15-17, 2007 - Hawthorn Suites San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel ... reservations (210) 527-1900..remember to mention you're with the 71st Evac group to get the $109 rate AND get your share of the expenses for being there... Agenda (as of 2/7/7)A block of rooms has been reserved for US. All rooms not reserved by Feb 13, 2007 will be released. THURSDAY - Steve Streeper, Scotty McNutt, Art Yamamoto, Bob Cartwright, Sara McVicker, Jim Blanchard, Ken Bass and Tom Dawson are scheduled for check-in on or before 3/15, so the reunion is for real. We plan to tell outrageous war stories (aka LIES!) all night long (same thing we'll all be doing when YOU get there!!) The more the merrier for this activity. Bobby Calhoun will be coming down from Austin that night, as well. FRIDAY - Use this day to get to know some fellow vets, visit places you remember, catch up on some "rays" (sunshine IS scheduled you know), or just "chill", gathering strength for the nights' upcoming festivities. 6PM - "Welcome Home" buffet in Hawthorne Suites' Hospitality Room. A night cruise of the San Antonio Riverwalk area is optional, weather permitting. SATURDAY - Day is open for a trip to Brooke Army Medical Center to visit our training grounds (details to follow), meetings of special interest groups in Hospitality Room, and individual/group activities. Plan to get to know EVERYONE and share your memories of the 71st. In the Hospitality Suite, throughout the day, we will present Vietnam-era memorabilia, slides and scanned pictures...including YOURS...so bring 'em!! We'll also be playing recordings of the SLC after-dinner speeches...very touching and entertaining! At 18:30 we'll gather for dinner, followed by the customary three-minute orations on the open mike...surely the high point of the SLC gathering! Bring plenty of Kleenex! All food costs and Hospitality Room rental fees will be divided by the number of 71st Evac Reunion registered guest rooms and added to our room charges, as we did at Salt Lake. Individual meals are at your own expense and all events are BYOB! Please be CERTAIN to make your reservation as part of the 71st group, even if you miss the 2/13 room discount...otherwise you'll have to wear a Scrooge hat! (I think all of us are old enough to remember Scrooge McDuck aren't we??) REMEMBER: You may register

calling them at (210) 527-1900. Calling may be preferable, as you can then mention
you're with the 71st Evac Reunion. The more who register NOW, the better our bargaining
